What's the difference between the Axium and Mystique Decanter?

The Axium Decanter is designed for medium- to full-bodied reds such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Bordeaux blends, holding up to about 49oz. The Mystique Decanter has a wider bowl built for young, powerful reds and magnums, maximizing surface-to-air ratio for wines that need more aeration, with a larger capacity around 64oz.

What's the difference between a decanter and a carafe?

A decanter is generally built to separate sediment and maximize aeration for young or structured wines, while a carafe offers a slimmer, more versatile shape for gentler aeration and everyday serving. Zalto recommends decanting most wines, since even its glasses' large surface area helps wine open up.

Are Zalto decanters and carafes also lead-free and dishwasher-safe?

Yes. Like all Zalto glassware, the decanters and carafes are mouth-blown, lead-free, and dishwasher-safe.

Care & Cleaning

How should I clean my Zalto glassware?

Both dishwasher and hand washing are suitable. Dishwashing is actually recommended by Zalto, since manual polishing — the most common cause of glass breakage — isn't needed; just use a proper glass-washing cycle with the correct water hardness and rinse settings. If hand washing, hold the glass gently by the bowl with the stem between your index and middle finger, never by the stem or base alone, and avoid scouring pads.

How do I clean a Zalto decanter or carafe?

Decanters and carafes can build up deposits that are harder to remove. Zalto's tips include dissolving baking soda in hot water and swirling, adding a squeeze of lemon juice to the rinse water, using salt and vinegar to remove alcohol residue and calcium deposits, or swirling uncooked rice for stubborn stains.

Shipping & Returns

Do you ship internationally?

Domestic U.S. shipping is available on all orders, with free shipping via standard UPS delivery on Zalto glassware and the Laguiole wine key for orders over $150. Most orders ship from the Pennsylvania warehouse and arrive within 7–10 business days, with 1–3 business days for processing before tracking updates.

What is Aldo Sohm's return policy?

Returns are accepted within 30 days, and items must be unused, in original condition and packaging, with proof of purchase. A $5 restocking fee applies, and return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the error was on Aldo Sohm's side. Zalto glasses that have been unwrapped from their factory tissue packaging cannot be returned. The Laguiole corkscrew can be returned within 21 days of delivery in its original box.

What if my glass arrives broken?

Inspect glassware within 48 hours of delivery. If anything arrives broken, email office@aldosohm.com with a photo of the broken glass, a photo of the packaging, and your order number.

Does Aldo Sohm offer virtual wine tastings?

Yes. Private virtual wine tastings are hosted by Aldo Sohm via Zoom and tailored to a company's or group's needs. Aldo Sohm ships the wines directly to each participant and provides tracking information, then hosts the tasting live (or the group can coordinate its own video call).
